Japanese room 和室

1/4/2018 Happy New Year! A big snow storm is hitting us right now. It has been snowing since this morning and we got 8″ of snow so far. I had a doctor appointment today but it was cancelled due to this crazy weather…

Well, there is a family room in the basement, also known as “Rich’s man cave”. We used this room as a storage space for a while though we unpacked and organized most of boxes and transformed it into Japanese room. We do yoga here now. Since this is the “man cave”, Rich will eventually remove the carpet and place hardwood floor, paint the wall and decorate the room as he wishes! It’s going to be interesting:) The photos will follow!!

2018年1月4日　明けましておめでとうございます。年末からすごい寒波がきていて氷点下の日が続いています。今日も笑ってしまうぐらいの猛吹雪。

さて、この家は玄関を開けると上と下にいく階段があり、メインの居住スペースは上階にあります。日本の一階二階とは少し違って、玄関の階に部屋が無く、なんと説明していいのかよく分からないけれど。。。下階（ベースメント）に行くと車庫とファミリールームといわれる団欒部屋があり、今までは荷物置き場になっていました。先日ここを片付けて畳室コーナーをつくりました。今はここでヨガをしたり洗濯物をたたんだりしています。

アメリカではMan caveという、いわゆる男部屋みたいなのが各家にあって、その人の趣味に合わせて好きなように部屋を作ります。ポイントは女性が口出しできない（してはいけない）男のロマンの詰まったお部屋というところです。で、この家ではこの部屋がリッチ君のMan caveなので、彼はゆくゆくは床の張替えと壁の塗り替えをする予定です。私は一切口出ししない予定なので、どんなお部屋になるか楽しみです。
