Compost bin 堆肥箱

6/30/2018 This is Rich’s latest woodworking project. He made a compost bin from scratch. He cut some leftover wood into pieces and assembled them and painted it.

2018年6月30日 我が家では野菜を料理するときに出る切りくずや、紅茶の葉、コーヒー豆、卵の殻などを堆肥として再利用しています。日々、結構な量が出るので、ちゃんとした堆肥用の箱を作ることにしました。

It is 3’x3’ and quite big. 一辺が1mあるので結構大きいです。

I forgot to take pictures… He was so fast so this was the first picture of the project (and almost finished).
写真を撮り忘れましたが、リッチ君が一からデザインして家にあった残り物の木を切って組み立ててペンキを塗りました。

We put vegetables scraps, egg shells, coffee ground and such + grass crippings.
野菜の切りくずの上に芝刈りをした時の芝を上から被せています。

The bin is placed at the far back of our house.
庭の隅に設置しました。捨てに行く担当はリッチ君。夏はいいけど冬はどうするんだろーか！？
