3/29/2019 Just a quick update on our garden. It’s been 14 days since I planted the seeds. Some have already germinated! Japanese Daikon radish was the first one to come out only 3 days after sowing. In case you are not familiar with Daikon, my husband explains it as ” a long and white root vegetable kind of like a baseball bat shape”. It is a very common vegetable in Japan. we use as salad, soup and simmer with meet and fish. To me, the taste and texture is similar to turnip. Anyway, it was funny when he said “baseball bat” lol.
We bought some spring flower pots, they are daffodil, hyacinth and tulip. We are going to transplant them outside shortly.
2019年3月29日 ガーデニングの進捗です。種まきをしてから14日経ち、全体の70％ぐらいが発芽しました。大根は育ちが早く3日目には芽を出しました。リッチ君が友人にDaikonという野菜を説明しているのを横で聞いていたら、白くて長くて野球のバットみたいな形の根野菜と言っていたので、思わず吹いてしまいました。野球のバットね、、、。その他に新しい仲間として、お庭に植える春のお花、ラッパスイセン、ヒヤシンス、チューリップをお迎えしました。毎日グングン成長していて早く植替えしないとお花が咲いてしまう（汗）。
今週末は、私たちが所属している木工細工協会の展示会があり、今までに作ったシェーカーボックス（アメリカ版の曲げわっぱ）を展示する予定です。その様子は次回レポートしたいと思います。
