Lower deck ウッドデッキ #1

4/18/2019 New project is coming up! We are going to build a lower deck. We installed a hot tub behind our house last summer and we love it and use it pretty much everyday. It is on a slab right now and there is nothing around it. We have a main deck on the 2nd floor and we have to take stairs and walk on the grass to get to the tub. It is OK and we can live with that but it would be great if there is a lower deck around the tub and a stairs to get there directly. We finally decided to do that to get ready for upcoming summer! Rich drew a plan, submitted it to the town hall and got a permit! It was quick!

2019年4月18日我が家の裏庭には外づけのジャクジーがあります。これは昨年の夏に取り付けたもので（記事はこちら-Hot tub ジャクジー）、毎日お湯に浸かれるので大活躍中です。ただ、今は家の2階部分にあるウッドデッキから階段を下りて、芝生の上を歩かないと辿りつけず、結構遠回り。さらにジャクジー自体はコンクリートの基礎の上にただ乗っている状態なので、ちょっと不恰好です。これは取り付け時から検討をしていたプロジェクトですが、ジャクジーの周りにウッドデッキを作って、さらに2階のデッキから直接1階のデッキに降りられる階段を取り付けることに決めました。

アメリカでは家の改築/改造を行う場合は各市町村の役場に届出が必要で、担当部署に計画書と図面を提出し、Permit（許可書）を得ないといけません。許可が下りると作業を進めることができますが、完了後には役場に完了報告を入れて、検査官からの「合格」をもらわなければなりません。小さなものでもこのPermitが必要で、意外と面倒。ということで、こちらがリッチ君が作成した図面です。ちなみにコレで一発合格し、Permitをもらいました。本人、役場から帰ってきてドヤ顔で見せてきましたｗ

今回、柱と梁は業者さんに依頼し、デッキの木を貼る作業は（今のところは）リッチ君が「僕(と私）がやる！」と言っています。私としては全部業者さんにお願いしたけれど・汗。デッキの大きさは8m x 7m。杉の木を使う予定です。許可書はもらっているので、業者さんとの日程が決まり次第作業が始まる予定です。
