10/26/2020 There are some ash trees in the backyard and they have been dead for some time due to insect attack… They don’t look good and also it is not safe to keep the dead tree around the house we decided to cut them down. We hired a tree doctor and he fell 3 ashes and cut some of the maple tree branches. We could have asked him to take the trees with him as an option but my husband decided to keep the tree to make some firewood… I tried to convince him “not to” as it was A LOT and we don’t even have a fire pit to begin with. He was very optimistic and told me he will do all by himself so I said “OK”.lol He kept his word and did all the cutting and cleaning alone and ended up buying a wood-chipper and a fire pit! Very impressive! We raked the leaves and pretty much done with the yard work. Winter is just around the corner. My next blog post will be a report of our new fire pit!!
2020年10月26日 過去1ヶ月間ぐらいの庭掃除の記録。家と裏の散歩道の境界線に生えているアッシュという木（おそらく日本語ではナナカマド？だけど種類が違うような、、、）が虫にやられて死んでしまっていて見た目もあまりよろしくないので、Tree doctor（木のお医者さん）に切ってもらうことにしました。アッシュは3本、その他に大きな楓の木の枝が嵐で折れてしまってぶら下がった状態だったので、そちらも切ってもらいました。ここまではお医者さんの仕事で、オプションとして切った木を持って帰ってもらうこともできたのですが、リッチ君は「せっかくだから木を丸太にして焚き火にしたい！」と言い出して、私的には沈黙、、、。だって物凄い量なんだもの。丸太にしたら燃やすのに数年かかるレベルだし、丸太にするのだって時間かかるし。焚き火缶だって買わなきゃいけないし。冬は寒すぎて焚き火なんてしないし。と、アレコレ言って「医者さんにもって帰ってもらえば早い話」ってことをゴリ推ししたのですが、「自分でやるから」の一点張り（笑）チェーンソーで切ったり、新しくウッドチッパー（木の屑にする機械）を買ったり、かなりのおおごとに。でも私を巻きこむことなく一人で黙々とやっていたので、結果オーライです。そして木が一段落したので、続いて落ち葉集め。これは私もプロジェクトに加わり、最終的に相当な量になりました。とりあえず庭の隅に一まとめにしておいて、今年最後の芝刈りをするときの切った芝と混ぜて堆肥にする予定です。ハドソンバレーは晩秋でここ1週間ぐらいは寒々しく落ち葉の嵐。冬はもうすぐそこです。次の投稿は焚火缶のレポートです（笑）
