2021 Apple Picking りんご狩り

There are so many Apple orchards around us. It’s no exaggeration to say that we can’t go anywhere without going through the orchards. Every year in late September, we smell sweet apple when we are walking or driving. It is a special thing for us. We live in a rural area but we see some traffic jams of people going apple picking only this time of the year. Anyway, we decided to do apple canning. The last time we did was in 2018 we liked it so we wanted to try again. We used the “apple for baking recipe” on Ball’s blue book. This is good for making apple pie, strudels and French apple cake. We went apple picking and got 45lbs of Fuji and Snapdragon. It was a lot to process but we are so glad that we did it!

It is overwhelming…
Rich used a tool to peel, slice and remove the core.
I then cook and put them in the jars.
We made 11 quarts and 4 pints!

It was a busy day but we enjoyed canning and will enjoy the rest all through winter!
