7/5/2022 It’s been muggy here in Hudson Valley… My last blog post was more than 8 months ago and I thought it’s a good idea to write about what I’ve been up to.
We spent a whole month of May in Japan. It’s been over 3 years since the last time we were there so we couldn’t wait any longer and decided to visit. And we had a really really good time with our family and friends. As you know, April, May are the important months of gardeners. I wanted to grow some veggies from seeds but because of this month long trip I hesitated to do so. Instead, I went to a local nursery as soon as when we got back from Japan.
As I don’t have much time and choice, I decided to do something simple. I got 4 tomato plants(Big boy), 4 basil, 4 green pepper plants and 1 cucumber plant(3 in one pot! so I separated them). They all fit in one bed so it was convenient too. They are doing well so far and tomato plants started blooming.
2022年7月5日 久しぶりの投稿です！ハドソンバレーは夏、このところ蒸し暑い日が続いています。最後にブログを書いたのが昨年の11月で、随分と時間が経ってしまったので、今現在の家庭菜園の様子を綴っておきたいと思います。
まず、今年5月に、3年以上ぶりに日本に帰省しました。1ヶ月間丸々滞在できて、家族、友人と再会でき、美味しいものを沢山食べて日本魂を充電してきました（笑）野菜を作る人にとって４、5月は重要な準備期間。5月に1ヶ月家をあけるとなると、種から苗を育てることはできないので、家に戻ってきてから駆け込みでガーデンセンターに行き、まだ残っていた苗を買ってきました。ギリギリセーフ！トマト、バジル、グリーンペッパー（緑パプリカ）とキュウリの４種のみで、1つのベッドに収まりました。トマトは今日、初めてお花が咲きました。今のところ、みんな順調に育ってくれています。
ALSO… I have a very talented and experienced gardener friend. She gave us Zebra glass for screen purposes and some elephant ear plants for eye candy! They have been doing well too!
野菜の他にも、、、昨年からお世話になっている、家庭菜園の匠フローレンスさんからいただいた、ゼブラグラスとエレファント・イアも植えました。こちらも今のところ順調です。
